5 steps · Your own pace
Check why your phone battery runs down quickly
Step 1 of 5: Look at recent battery use
Open Settings and Battery. Review the period and activity list, then compare it with your use. Long video calls or navigation can use more power than messages. Layouts differ by version.
✓ Step complete. You can practise it again.
Step 2 of 5: Reduce a clear screen demand
Try a comfortable lower brightness and a shorter screen-off delay. Keep the screen readable. Test the change during ordinary use instead of turning off many features at once and losing track of what helped.
✓ Step complete. You can practise it again.
Step 3 of 5: Use a temporary power-saving mode
Find Battery Saver or Low Power Mode where supported. Read what it limits; background activity and some features may change. This can help a low charge last longer, but is not a repair for an ageing battery.
✓ Step complete. You can practise it again.
Step 4 of 5: Check one unusual app
If an app uses much more power than expected, update it and review its own settings. Do not delete important accounts or restrict essential alerts blindly. A new setup or software update may temporarily involve background work.
✓ Step complete. You can practise it again.
Step 5 of 5: Check condition and get help if needed
Keep the phone out of excessive heat and check battery health/service messages if the model provides them. Follow the maker’s guidance for unusual heat, swelling or sudden shutdowns. Persistent problems may need service rather than another settings tweak.
✓ Step complete. You can practise it again.

Your small practice task.
Read the battery report and note one activity you can compare after a small change.
Completing the guide records your progress here; it does not check your device settings.

Will closing every app improve battery life?
It is not a reliable general fix. Use the device’s battery report and investigate the particular activity rather than repeatedly closing everything.
